I daresay things are on a bona-fide ROLL! On the way back from another fun-filled evening at Literary Clown Foolery, Boppity Bear and I were recruited to play music, tomorrow night from 7-10, outside Martin Mack's on Haight St.! It could turn into a regular gig, so I implore anyone who wants to come and sit and get rowdy, or play music or add flair to some songs, come on by!!!
The best part of the evening was when a group of six drunk, enthusiastic friends outside the bar wouldn't let me leave until I played a song- of course I graced them with Mule Named Sal- they all huddled around me and Boppity Bear, bopping to the beat, and getting excited and chanting "Go Sal! Go Sal!" or "Go Jim! Go Jim!" according to the characters in the song. One guy even got so excited that he made me keep playing so he could freestyle his own verse on the end- it was actually pretty good. Then everyone got so rowdy that I got afraid I would be un-hired from tomorrow's gig, so I ran off as they yelled, "Go Liz O! Go Liz O!" down Haight St.
I don't know how to conclude this story, so I will attach a picture from tonight's event. I wonder if my parents ever discuss whether they should have given me a tougher childhood.
